Amara: A Life of Dedication, Music, and Advocacy
Sandra Amarachi Odor was born in Nigeria to a Christian family, where faith and music were integral parts of her upbringing. From a young age, Amara knew she had a voice that could inspire, and in 2010, she embarked on her music career, pouring her heart into her songs. However, life took a pivotal turn in 2011 when she got married. Amara made the heartfelt decision to step away from music, focusing entirely on raising her family and supporting her husband.
In 2017, Amara joined her husband in Germany and began working as an assistant nurse. Shortly after, she pursued training to become a professional nurse. During this time, she thought her music career was behind her. But as life unfolded, Amara found herself drawn back to music, with inspiration pouring in from everyday events. Slowly but surely, music found its way back into her heart and life.
Her return to music has been powerful, with a focus on themes of resilience, hope, and gratitude. Her song, “It’s Gonna Be Ok,” is a poignant tribute to the Ukrainian people, capturing the spirit of perseverance during difficult times. Another of her works, “Das Grüne Land,” expresses deep gratitude to the people of Germany for their kindness and the country’s organized and welcoming nature.
Amara’s dedication to honoring women is reflected in her song “Every Woman is Beautiful,” a celebration of the strength and beauty of women across the globe. This song is accompanied by her book, “Listen My Child,” which delves into the importance of men’s roles ad good example loving fathers and husbands in building loving families and creating positive legacies for future generations.
Her first book, “I’m a Woman, a Beautiful Soul You Never Knew Existing” is already available on Amazon, offering an intimate exploration of womanhood and the often-overlooked inner strength that women possess.
A Multi-Faceted Journey: From Music to Medicine
Despite her flourishing return to music, Amara’s dedication to caring for others hasn’t wavered. As she will soon begin a new academic journey in April 2025, when she transitions to studying Nursing at the University of Medicin Mainz Germany. Balancing her studies and family responsibilities with her music and writing, Amara committed to making a difference in the world in multiple ways.
Harbor Women Organisation (HWO)
Amara’s compassion extends beyond her music and healthcare work. In January 2024, she will officially launch her NGO, the Harbor Women Organisation (HWO). Through this platform, Amara aims to support pregnant women in Nigeria and across Africa, providing them with much-needed assistance and resources during a critical period of their lives. The establishment of HWO reflects her deep dedication to empowering women and improving maternal health outcomes across the continent.
Advocacy and Vision for a Better Society
Amara is more than an artist—she is an advocate for women’s rights, strong families, and a better society. Her belief in the power of women and the importance of nurturing families drives her to use her platform to uplift and inspire others. Whether through her music, writing, or advocacy, she encourages everyone to persevere, no matter the challenges they face.
Amara describes herself as a strong, passionate, hardworking, brave, and loving woman. She takes pride in seeing others succeed and dedicates herself to motivating and supporting people in their personal journeys. Her advocacy extends beyond her art, touching on broader social issues as she seeks to build a more just and caring world.
